Nominations are now open for the 2025 AASSP Regional Principal of the Year Award and the 2025 AAESP National Outstanding Principal of the Year Award
The Regional Principal of the Year Awards are designed to recognize outstanding principals in Alaska for their leadership in their district and region in Alaska.
Nominations are due November 29th, 2024
To be considered for Region Principal of the Year, the nominee:
- Must be an active principal, headmaster, or leader of a virtual, public, or private middle level or high school in Alaska. Middle level and high schools are defined as those containing some portion of grades 6 through 12.
- Must be a current individual active member of AASSP/NASSP at the time of selection and throughout the year in which they are nominated.
- Must have served as a principal at one or more middle level or high schools for three or more consecutive school years.
The National Association of Elementary School Principals, along with AAESP, is committed to preparing assistant principals to step into the principal role. Recognition for the exceptional leadership of those who are responsible for the day-to-day operations of pre-K–8 schools helps to instill pride in their accomplishments and reinforces their leadership in helping children develop a lifelong love of learning.
Nominations are Due December 15, 2024
CRITERIA
- Applicant must be a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals at the time of application and must maintain membership through July 31, 2025.
- Applicant must be an active assistant principal at the time of nomination.
- Applicant must be an active assistant principal for at least two years.
- Applicant must contribute to the well-being of the educational community.
- Applicant must have a strong record of service (in both school and community) and be recognized as a leader.
- Applicant must exhibit exceptional leadership in a particular school program and/or is heavily involved in finding a solution to a problem faced by the school.
